Introduction

Eyrie ("we", "our", or "the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your information.

Most of Eyrie's core viewing features can be used without an account. If you choose to sign in, we collect and store the information needed to authenticate you, send notifications, and manage your optional profile features.

Information We Collect

Account Information

If you create an account or sign in with email, Google, or Apple, we may receive and store your email address, name, profile image, authentication provider details, and your Eyrie profile information such as display name and favorite eagle.

Push Notifications

If you enable notifications, we collect a device push token and your notification preferences. This lets us send alerts to your specific device and honor your chosen notification tier and quiet hours. This information:

  • Is used solely to deliver the notifications you request
  • Includes technical device details such as platform and app version
  • Is shared only with service providers needed to deliver the notification
  • Can be removed by disabling notifications or deleting your account

What We DO NOT Collect

  • Location data
  • Financial information
  • Behavioral analytics or ad tracking
  • Crash logs (unless you explicitly opt in via your device settings)
  • Contacts, photos, or unrelated device content

How We Use Information

We use account information to authenticate you, maintain your session, save your optional profile, and support signed-in features. We use push tokens and notification preferences to send you nest event alerts based on the settings you choose in the app.

Third-Party Services

We rely on a small number of services to run Eyrie:

  • Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple, if you choose those login methods
  • Expo Push Service, which routes notifications through Apple (APNs) or Google (FCM)
  • YouTube, for embedded public live streams
  • Google Docs, as the public source for volunteer-maintained nest observations

Data Retention

Account data is retained while your account remains active. Push tokens and notification preferences are retained while notifications remain enabled and the token is valid.

  • Disable notifications or let a token expire → the token is removed from active use
  • Delete your account in the app → your authentication record, profile, and associated notification data are deleted

Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time inside the app from Profile → Delete Account. This permanently removes your Eyrie account and associated profile and notification data.

Children's Privacy

This app is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect more personal information from children than is reasonably necessary to provide Eyrie's optional account features. We do not use the app for advertising, profiling, or data brokerage.

Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect account data, profile data, and notification data in our possession. All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via the app. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
